Press conference to present the project
“REFE – Reducing the Ecological Footprint through Eco-Awareness” project

The Vienna Children’s Theatre Association – “Children Play Theatre”, as a beneficiary, runs the unique project “REFE – Reducing the Ecological Footprint through Eco-Awareness”. The overall objective of the project is: “To raise the awareness of the younger generation about environmental issues and to make children and teenagers aware of the individual and collective possibilities to reduce the ecological footprint are pressing demands of today!”

The press conference dedicated to the presentation of this unique project in Romania took place on 19 April this year in the premises of the National Village Museum “Dimitrie Gusti”, in the Victor Ioan Popa Hall, 28-30 Kiseleff Road, sector 1, Bucharest, between 11:30-14:30.

The products of the REFE project, which will be launched during 2022, are:

  1. Ecological Footprint Measurement Test
  2. Guide “How do you plan a sustainability camp? – With the REFE Guide, it’s easy”.
  3. The Environmental Education for Middle School (grade 6) resource material
  4. Teaching material
  5. e-Learning modules for teenagers
  6. The play “Shakespeare and the Golden Tortoise”, together with the launch of the documentary
    “4 to 1 Earths: An Adventure in Ecology”.

Partners: Ecologic Association (Baia Mare), EuroEd Foundation (Iași), University of Bucharest and Schule für das Leben Association (Vienna).

The project is part of the European Climate Initiative (EUKI), which is a funding instrument of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). The EUKI project competition is implemented by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) GmbH. The overall objective of EUKI is to promote cooperation within the European Union (EU) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The Vienna Children’s Theatre – “Children Play Theatre” is a non-governmental association,
non-profit and apolitical, established with the aim to develop the communication skills of children, young people and teachers in various fields (literature, art, theatre) and to develop their creativity and broaden their horizon of knowledge as well as to encourage a life in harmony with the environment. Harmony between man, nature and his environment has been part of the values of the theatre teaching method used in the association from the very beginning.
