Goal:<\/h4>\n

Enabling young people in Romania to live sustainable lifestyles by providing knowledge through educational materials.<\/p>\n

Acest proiect \u00ee\u0219i propune s\u0103 sensibilizeze tinerii cu privire la impactul stilului de via\u021b\u0103 al omenirii asupra s\u0103n\u0103t\u0103\u021bii planetei noastre. El se concentreaz\u0103 pe \u00een\u021belegerea de c\u0103tre participan\u021bi a modului \u00een care ace\u0219tia afecteaz\u0103 capacitatea mediului de a sus\u021bine modul lor actual de via\u021b\u0103. Educarea genera\u021biilor tinere este cea mai bun\u0103 modalitate de a asigura un viitor mai bun pentru omenire.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00cen plus, participan\u021bii pot vedea c\u0103, prin modificarea unora dintre aspectele stilului lor de via\u021b\u0103 actual, pot participa activ la protejarea pe termen lung a P\u0103m\u00e2ntului, lu\u00e2nd decizii mai durabile de acum \u00eenainte \u0219i aduc\u00e2nd o contribu\u021bie semnificativ\u0103 la s\u0103n\u0103tatea ecosistemului.<\/span><\/p>\n

Background:<\/h4>\n

Although environmentalism is on the rise throughout Europe, consumerism and mass production are still deeply rooted in large parts of society. In Romania, two recent documents \u2013 the 5th National Report on the Convention of Biological Diversity and the National Sustainable Development Strategy (NSDS) \u2013 emphasise the need for more sustainable lifestyles. Both of them identify education and awareness raising among youth as key approaches in this regard.<\/p>\n

Project:<\/h4>\n

REFE complies with this through developing eight products that can be incorporated into Romania’s educational system. These support the adjustment of the school system to the priorities of the 5th National Report on the Convention of Biological Diversity and the NSDS. The products consist of the following: a tool to measure the ecological footprint; a planning guide for an educational summer camp on ecological footprints; a documentary; a grade-6 curriculum, teaching material; a theatre script; e-learning modules; a report. The products provide young people in Romania with the fundamentals of ecological thinking and with practical options to make their lifestyles more sustainable. REEF ensures to monitor all products throughout the project life cycle and adjust them as needed.
